Ladies. I miss ladies, the ones I grew up around. They never smoked in public if they smoked, they never swore, they wore gloves and heels to shop in and they never, ever were anything but ladies and were treated as such. They were kind, they knew when and how to straighten out a couple of kids that were getting a bit too rambunctious without resorting to screaming across the county and using language that would make a sailor blush. They taught Sunday school, they served on all the local boards and functions and they were the backbone of the community. Their husbands tended to be cut from the same cloth. I miss those types of people, solid citizens so to speak. It seems we had so many back in the day, all WW1 and 2 and Korea vets and their wives. The folks that lived through the depression and the war. Sad we don't seem to breeding them anymore.
