The problem is that there is never enough for gov't. Never enough power, never enough influence, never enough of other peoples money to buy votes with to stay in office. People just ignore the increased taxes, time after time. Those of us who complain about having to pay for more than basic services like highways, police or defense are called names like hate monger and bigot. We're accused of not caring about other people or of being part of the "1%" (I wish!). But it all comes down to one thing- gov't has learned that they can keep the useful idiots voting for them year after year by giving them crumbs.
At this point, it's hopeless. There are more people taking that entitlement/bribe/crumbs in it's various form than ever.
