I patched a spot on a diesel tank with JB Weld cleaned the area to bright metal, washed everything down with rubbing alcohol and applied JB Weld to the area, 24 hrs later problem solved. That was 14 years ago still holding. If you can't get it off the tractor make sure it is empty and the cap is off the tank.
