I've always used a 15/16 deep socket with no issues on the B series engines. I believe it's actually 24mm.
I have had issues getting then injector out, most of the time a little wiggling with a wrench being mindful of the alignment ball in the injector not to damage the head while pulling up got the out. For the real stubborn ones I have a little puller made up out of a piece of pipe with the correct size metric nut welded to the lower end of a short piece of threaded rod with a thick washer to pull the stubborn ones out. Injector could have 12 or 14 mm threads depending on which injection pump it has.
