There is some confusion on old rims, you probably know, but; the Widowmaker is only one style, it comes apart in the middle of the rim like an Oreo cookie maybe into two halves. The trouble is when assembled with a tire on it, you can't really see if its put together right or not...... Many tire shops no longer work on these due to insurance coverage, tho they are legal still to use. It is good to replace these.
There are many designs of split -ring- rims where a strip or two or three of metal ring comes off the edge of the rim. Everyone is happy today with these, certainly they can be dangerous and they need to be inspected for rust and proper assembly of the ring or rings that hold it together. But, these are safe and common and a good tire shop - not the one in a Walmart, but a good shop - will work on these just fine.
