I have planned several plow days over the years and here are some things I have learned. 1. Keep it simple...invite your club. Don't worry with inviting the public. Those who want to come will come out and watch. If you make a big deal of it and invite everyone...you could get a bunch of tractors and plows and people showing up. We keep ours quiet...so we can have fun. 2. The host farmer takes care of the lunch and generally will fill your tank...after all they are getting free tillage. 3. Have a loader and porta potty available. 4. Have time for coffee and visiting. 5. Have a Plow Boss in charge. 6. Keep your 2 - 3 plows together, 4-5 plows together, etc... 7. We have scheduled in August and in November. Not real fond of either. Too hot in August and we generally get rained out in November. Depends on your area and when harvest is done. We tend to have the bigger turnout in August plowing wheat stubble. 8. Be flexible - particularly with weather. 9. Have fun!!
