Back when people actually ate a much larger variety of foods than we do now, squab (young pigeon) was a staple. Reading the old texts it appeared every farm boy had a pigeon loft in the barn. Compared to chicken, ducks, geese and pheasants, I don't see where pigeons eat anything unusual or disgusting.
