I've always wanted to do a conversion from a barn to a house. Also wanted a log house but did that and sold it. My current barn could probably be converted but there's a perfectly good 1,900 sq. ft. house in great shape not more than 100 ft. from it (i.e, my dwelling). Not a lot of barns in my area anymore that are sitting alone on a property in good enough shape to even begin to do something with. Losing more and more of them to the wrecking ball each year. I recall the This Old House series they did some time back where they couldn't save the barn and built a timber frame barn-house instead.
