Hardest chores I recall were loading alfalpha bales on hay wagon, cleaning gutters in stanchion barn with shovel and wheelbarrow, throwing down silage twice daily to feed cows in stanchions, lifting 10 gallon milk jugs in and out of the "spring cooler", training a newly freshened heifer to accept milking machine without getting kicked, and probably many other fun things that my mind has so graciously removed from my memory. When we speak of "the good old days" we tend to forget these minor things. I reckon the we look back with nostalgia is that we did not carry the worries of the real world that our parents carried for us.
