I got to the Le Sueur swap meet before 5 a.m. (!!!) as I always do, because I like the first parking spot on the road right outside the main gate. (Makes it easier to unload junk into my truck, sit for a quick break and go back quickly for more junk.) I reclined the seat, pulled a blanket over my head and napped until vendors started showing up at daybreak. As usual, I found dozens of old hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, chisels and other hand tools I absolutely don't need, plus a clean 8N Ford hood, fender and light bracket for $40 total at the second vendor I visited -- I thought that was quite a bargain that would have been gone if I had started wandering any later. I also found a 3-ton cherry-picker jack for $5. All in all, despite the cold, gray start, it was a good day that changed to warm sunshine in early afternoon. I was tempted to go back today, but I suppose all the bargains got snatched up Friday.

But, I want to talk about my tractor! We didn't even own a lawnmower, and all of a sudden we had enough grass to feed all the starving children of the bovine world. Naturally, I talked
