I have held the same belief for some time- you can find a couple of top-of-the-line Vettes from 14 or 15 still in showrooms, could probably be had for under $50K, or even less, especially with manual trans, which I would prefer. A heck of a bargain for a factory rocket. The handling is incomparable to the bigger muscle cars. I know one guy who drove his year-round here in SW MI, said it actually wasn't bad in the snow with Blizzaks.
