Where I am, the 12 row 7100 JD planters set up this way bring from $2500 to $4000. Without markers, it would be even less. As far as your 4850 handling it, there should not be any problem doing that, especially if it has the lift assist wheels out back. We ran the 12 row and banded Ramrod in corn, and Amiben in soybeans, on the row with a 4320 for 5 years. We also had an auxiliary fuel tank (50 gallons) along with the starter set with 6 or 7 of the John Deere slab weights out front. Our 7100 was one of the very first Max-Emerge planters built. We purchased it in 1982 as a used planter. Our planter had the twin lift assist wheels out back. When fully loaded up, you kind of had to "herd" that tractor around on the end rows until the boxes went down some. The planter was later put on a 4440, a 4630, and lastly on a 4640. I do remember seeing 8 row planters without any lift assist arrangement, or only one of these lift assist wheels. Depending up what this set up is, will determine how much front end weight you will need on the tractor. An owner's manual will/should give you an idea on how much, if any, front end weights you will need.
