Very true. For the most part they leave non-commercial pickups and cars alone but they can. A handful of times over the last few years they, the MN DOT cops, have nailed people out here on the highway by my place for both overweight and unsecured loads. One was a guy hauling a load of branches after a storm to the landfill. Branch blew off the trailer right in front of a DOT road side inspection setup. It's more or less a cash cow when the state is strapped for money and enforcement is spotty at best.
