Whirlpool has stood the test of time, in my house anyway, only washer I have had for over 50 years and can count on one hand how many that was, with the first being used (with the big cast iron gearbox and all) and that set the stage.....worked for me reliably.
They manufacture for many popular brands....that speaks for itself. I just got a new energy efficient one, top load (we had the Bendix TV when I was growing up and forget that) for under $400 with a new Whirlpool dryer also under $400. Both HD and Lowes had a sale and I got in on it.....must have been a factory sale with both stores having the same price and free delivery. It doesn't wash like they used to. The lid locks when washing now so you can't see it wash, but it seems to be like an ultrasonic (vibrating) jewelry cleaner....vibrates the dirt out rather than beats it out. Really sweet and the lint in the dryer is highly reduced which tells me you aren't wearing your clothes out beating them to death in the washer.

A copse of wildbreaking silver birch and oak trees surround the top si
