For $2000 or less, get an N. You can sit on CL for months like me and you MIGHT find a nicer ford with live PTO or any newer tractor with live PTO and 3 point for that price, but the chances are pretty slim. I've had a 9n and a 2n currently, along with a big MF 65 and a ford 961 coming home today. While the later 2 have live PTO, I will probably always enjoy mowing on the little N more. That being said I only finish mow with it, no brush hogging. My 'ole 2n has plenty of power for me. Pulled an old 8 ft disc with ease. Did logs well too, but be sure you NEVER PULL FROM ABOVE THE REAR AXLE! Always make sure the draw bar is BELOW the rear axle when pulling anything like that.
Do get an over running coupler, it may save your life.
If you should find a cheap N with a Sherman add on trans, I think you will find it quite handy.
