Picked up an old shredder and it has this remote cylinder on it. I have seen these old JD cylinders before but have no experience with them. I understand that you can set the disk at the top so that it triggers a depth stop or something like that? So exactly what is this type of cylinder called? How is it supposed to work? This thing leaks and needs rebuilt. Is it worth rebuilding like a normal cylinder, or is there a bunch of parts in side that makes it more complicated and expensive? I assume that since you don't see these around much anymore, they didn't work very well. Educate me please!
