Steve, when you turn the ignition switch off, a relay energizes the fuel shutoff solenoid. If you listen closely for a few seconds, after the engines stops, you will hear a little click. That is the solenoid opening. It is normally open, and only energized to stop the engine. We get a few calls a year from folks telling us their tractor won't stop running. There is a button you push to stop it manually, until it can be fixed. Usually the relay is the problem. Hope this helps explain how it works!
