That is priceless, its just amazing when something like a car or just about anything that has been around so long can be associated with family or something. Just because of its history, to me, a total stranger, would eliminate it from ever being a parts vehicle. A friend has rebuilt a '62 vintage SS impala with similar issues. It too was literally just about a parts car given the repairs needed to places on the body that you cannot see. He's had it since in high school, and its not far from paint now. In '88 it was refurbished, paint included with a nice original interior, but over time and likely prior to that round of work, it needed all of what he's just completed. Once done, it'll be a frame up professional restoration with a ton of metal work completed to restore all the rusted out body parts. I'm the only other person trusted to have driven it and I've helped with some of the work on it, that started this round in the late 90's. He's just been able to work on it part time, some years it had to wait, so its been a long time coming. His influence for this model was that his dad had several of them. His dad was an extremely talented man when it came to body work, paint, lettering, art and all kinds of heavy truck and equipment repairs. I worked with him at one outfit, he really was something and is missed by both of us, he passed in '13.
