And just where is he supposed to find a usable 10' disk? Around here most of those have already gone to scrap! 2 reason the M is cheap. It's too big for most guys who can only have one old tractor to store and too small for many farmers today. I know, I know, some people still use them. But here the small guys are running 700 or so acres. Their grain augers require tractors in the 70 or bigger HP range. So implements for a 40-50 HP tractor that are not 3 point went to scrap years ago. Heck last couple of mechanical ground lift plows I've seen at auction here, 3-14's were in really poor condition sold in the 650 price range. Plus a guy would have to buy 2 or 3 to come up with one field ready plow for a show queen!
For the OP: Research a rod weeder, smallest one you can find in your local area. See what the HP requirements are for your soil conditions. I don't know but I suspect that you will have trouble finding one small enough for an M in the 40-50 HP range. I would almost bet that you are going to be into a 60-70 HP tractor for what you are going to find. And there are tractors out there in that size range that should come in under your budget. I would look at find the weeder first then match it too a tractor.
