Old friend told me the story of his brother being charged with taking a deer without a license.
Can't say 100% it happened like the story was told but might be worth a try.
Long story short the morning he was supposed to be in court he called up the courthouse and asked to speak to the officer that had wrote him the ticket, he explained he was in another city and his car had broken down therefore there was no way he could make it to court in time, he pleaded with the officer to have the case postponed to a later date.
The officer point blank told him sucks to be you, if you don't show on time you will automatically be found guilty and ended the call.
Ben was across the street from the courthouse when he made the call and watched the officer leave after which he walked into the courthouse in time for his hearing and had the charges dropped as the officer was not present.
