What's the starter like? If it is bypassable i would turn on the key and arc it. See if it is disabling the whole system or just the starter. A friends Ford was doing that intermittently but it was just the starter. I put in a push button under the hood. If it wouldn't start he just turned on the key, popped the hood, and pressed the button.
My pickup will do that about every nine months but the starter isn't affected - it shuts down the fuel pump. Sonething in the computer thinks it is being stolen. I've had it since it had two miles on it!! It seems like if it runs until fully warmed up it won't do it. If I move it out of the shed and then go to start it 10 minutes later it will only crank. I just wait 30 minutes and it goes. Then it waits months so I fall into a false sense of security. It's always been around the farm, knock wood.
