Gary, I own a Whirlwind Terracer. My info is that they were built by the Servis Co., Dallas, TX. Servis purchased nearly 500 of 1-bottom #8 IH trailer plows from IH right after WWII. Servis was purchased by the Rhino Corp a long time ago. I called the Rhino office for added info but they said all the old Servis material was thrown away years ago.
Some Servis plows did not have the 3 speed tranny. Also a few plows were made for Ford 8N but I have never seen a picture of one.
My Terracer is in excellent shape....it is a big hit at our annual plow days. High gear (3rd) on plow tranny makes the vertical auger spin at 1000 rpm...need to make sure no one is close to the direction of flying soil!
I have heard many funny questions as to what the thing is; some guesses are potato digger (I tell them the potatoes are sliced and ready for the pan) to post hole auger.
I have some great pictures but I haven't figured out how to send them to this site. Emailing the pics is easy.

It’s amazing how a little floor jack can lift tons and tons of weight with just the flick of a handle. What’s even more amazing is that all the principals of hydraulic theory can be wrapped up in such a small package. This same package applies to any hydraulic system from the largest bulldozer to the oldest and smallest tractor. This short series will take a look at the basic layout of a simple hydraul
