The 1014 was first. JD copied it and was sued by Hesston and lost. The 1014 was available in 12' and 14' and had a single sickle at first. If you are thinking of going with the Hesston try for a "+2" version that has double sickles. I liked the way the Hesston conditioned, but the New Holland 499 had full 9ft rolls and would lay out a wider faster drying swath. Once you've cut with a swinging machine you'll be spoiled.
