Trouble shoot then parts NEVER the other way around.
#1 check the plugs and make sure there not all carboned up. If you find them to be black and oily or sooty replace them. I now use the NGK 3112 plugs since the champs and auto lite are not very good any more.
#2 make sure you have a good blue/white spark form the center wire of the distributor cap and at all 4 plug wires. If the spark is weak check the points and maybe clean them or replace them and check the point gap it could have slopped.
#3 Make sure you have a good steady flow of gas from the carb drain plug. It should fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes.
#4 do a compression test and make sure you have good compression on all 4 cylinder.
