Maybe you could cut back on the cattle...if you want beef cows you"ll have to keep winter feed and water issues, and the equipment for that.. If you have pasture you could keep feeders in the warm months, skip the winter headaches.
I quit the dairy cows 15 years ago, fed some steers for two years, then got out of livestock. Don"t miss them a bit. I rent out most of the farm, farm a bit yet for tax and other reasons. Better half and I take vacations every year, spend a couple winter weeks in the South, been on a couple cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. Planning a trip through UP, Canada to Niagara Falls, down the Blue Ridge Parkway to TN, and some day to Washington state. Maybe a train trip through the Canadian Rockies. Our farm is in a revocable trust for the kids. Even if you have a transition plan to kids, work into it soon enough so you can enjoy what you"ve worked for.
