My son in-law works for Deere at the PEC in Waterloo and every year the Sat. after vets day he and his buddies from there have a shoot at his shooting range on the 40 A. my daughter and he owns. It is 1/8 mi. wide and 1/2 mi. long with a creek right thru the middle. This year he had an ideal for a moving target and brought over a old Deere mower to make a half-track out of it. He had a 55 gal barrel but I thought we should have some thing stronger than that so I got a old tractor dual rim and it grew from there. Had the steering welded so the thing would go in circles. One of his buddies brought some -spelling??-tanzanite and they wrapped in tape and hung it from the barrel painted orange. I glad these guys are on our side- they are some pretty good shots! When they hit the powder it was quite explosion. It blew the barrel I had welded on right off! Son in-law cooked pork loin sandwiches on the grill and fun was had by all. I have never seen such a variety of guns. You can't tell by the pictures but they had heavy steel targets out at 600 yards and some could hit it every time even in the wind. Don't want to be political, but there was not one lib. voter in the bunch.

The colony remained far from self-supporting and it was not until the early 1800's that things started to improve.
