It's a bit of a roller coaster, I've shed a few tears, but it's ok. I haven't been out there near as much this year just trying to spend time with my wife and kids, because otherwise they hardly ever got to see me. I believe the cows went to honest farmers who want quality cows, but just some big guys adding to their already huge herd. Mom is sad as well, but she also feels the same way about the cows so it lessens the blow. Dad milked a few last girls this morning before they got picked up today.
Tonight will be the first time they won't have to milk anything.
We'll get to go out to dinner with them again, and they'll get to enjoy their grand kids. Especially dad, who was always going back out to feed the cows, or milk the cows, or clean the gutter, or fix the barn cleaner, or fix a pipe, or spread manure, or whatever. He'll have a hard time adjusting, but he'll manage.
