The only time I ever had trouble with a engine was after I used Stabil, haven't used anything since and haven't had a trouble. I am pretty careful about only using ethanol-free premium in all my 2 strokes, and I try to run all my small engines (19 of them) a couple of times a year. If I notice any throttle hesitation I use some Seafoam and that takes care of that usually. I haven't had to take a carburetor apart in years.
