Old Farmall45: Police officers DO NOT preserve freedom in this country!!!! They are more apt to restrict freedom. I see more and more excessive force complaints than I ever heard of in the past. We have too many Rambo type of officers that lack the common sense to deescalate situations over just brute forcing THEIR will and personal view of the LAW on whom ever they are dealing with.

The terms used in "Few good men"(Honor, Code) Sure as hell does not describe a lot of the law enforcement in today's USA!!!!! That term is reserved for those that have served in BATTLE. It sure as heck does not apply to large segments of the civilian police force in my opinion. I left out loyalty deliberately, they are loyal to covering each other's butt.

Think about this!!!! You are more likely to be shoot by a police officer than a total stranger in much of the USA right now. Giving control of a person's freedom and life to some poorly paid and low trained officer is just plain dangerous to too many people.

As for the public intox case. The four men did not have over a 1.1 on the Breathalyzer test. They demanded a blood test and did beat the charges in court. Cost them about $5K to do it. Many could not have afforded to fight it.

As for the car deal. This was not in the middle of the country. It was on main street, directly across form the TOWN HALL that houses the Police station. Not fifty feet from where the TOWN police Chief parks his car every single day!!!! Also I talked to the police Chief the very next morning and he had ZERO idea the car had been towed and could not give me a good reason why it had been done. So they do not have a policy of towing all and having them impounded.

I will agree than many of the published police shootings are making the person shot sound like a choirboy when in reality they are hoods. Then read up on cases like the Yantis case in Idaho or watch the video of the cop shooting a fat man running away from him. The cop that shot the fat guy got charged but without the video the odds of it happening would have been slim.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
