Well said Goose. Few years ago when my 90 yr old Mother was no longer able to attend Sat. evening mass alone my sisters and I decided to take turns once a month taking Mother to mass. Four Sundays in month and 4 of us live near by. Well I had not been to church in years. Don't have anything against those that believe, I just am not one of them. You believe and do as you want and I will believe and do as I want. Anyway when it was my turn to take Mother I put on a nice shirt and dress pants. You know, when in Rome----. Wow was I surprised what Rome looks like today. The very few young people that were there were dressed in rags and they were only there because the're parents were with them so evidently their dress was OK with parents. If that wasn't bad enough you should have seen the lectors and ushers. Some of these people were standing up there in greasy jeans and dirty t-shirt with the beer slogan on them. I'm not saying you need to ware a 3 piece suit and I know many people don't even own one and that's OK but can't you at least where clean clothes? I don"t have a problem with jeans and t-shirt, some of them look quite nice but wash them up for church. You need to dress "job appropriate". We've discussed this before. Example: job interview. What do some of these young people think when showing up? But I too blame the parents/Grandparents. I think it started in the 70s. We lost all common sense for dress. They are making a "statement". To me it looks like a freak show. I am a product of the 50s and from early on Mother dressed us appropriate for the destination. Out of respect for my parents and those around me today I still dress appropriately. There, end of rant.

Today's Featured Article - A Brief History of Tractors in Australia - by Bob Kavanagh. After Captain Cook's exploration of the east coast in 1770 the British Government decided to establish a penal colony in Australia. The first fleet arrived in 1788 and consisted mainly of convicts who were poorly equipped and new little of farming techniques. The colony remained far from self-supporting and it was not until the early 1800's that things started to improve. Free settlers started to arrive, they followed the explorers across the mountains and where land was suitable set up farms. T
