True story. When I was first stationed overseas in Germany, I lived in the barracks for a few months before I went out and got an apartment on the economy. One evening after the duty day ended, I'm in my barracks room and my roommate, Reuben says "Me and Greg and the guys are going out for beers if you want to join us". Sounded good and I said "OK, but who's Greg?". He looks at me and says, "You know who Greg is, you've had beers with us several times". OK, but I still had no idea who Greg was. A while later there's a knock at the door, I answer it, in walks Bob. I shake his hand, "Hey Bob, me and Reuben are going out and having beers with some guys if you want to come along". He said it sounded good to him. The whole time my roommate, Reuben was standing there with a puzzled look on his face and looks at Bob and says, "Bob? I thought your name is Greg". Bob looks at Reuben and says, "My name is Greg". I looked at Bob and said, "Greg? I've been calling you Bob for months". He looks back at me and says, "Yeah, but I knew who you were talking to and you weren't mad when you were calling me Bob so I let it go".
Lesson learned from then on? I don't care what people call or say to me so long as they aren't mad when they do it, and if they are and I can out run them, I'm still doing good.
