It is kind of a silly gearbox, you can't check or add oil to it while it is on the mill. If the gearbox is that froze up it needs off and all new bearings and check the gears, and yes fill with gear lube. Manual can probably find online, as far as rpms run it at 540 while grinding and can do less while unloading. On to the hammers, there is a hole that the rod they are on will slide out of, should be a pin in the end of the rods to take out, you can turn the hammers four times as long as you don't let them wear down to much. I hope I covered most of it, also if you need a gearbox from a junk mill, the early 65 had the same gearbox, the later 65s had bigger shafts, they were known to break on the 55 and early 65s.
