Just here in Iowa illegals are costing people jobs. I can tell you two direct ones.
1) My youngest son took care of two confinement hog finishing barns. HE was paid $1000 per barn per month. He was given a 1099 and paid all local and federal taxes on his income. He did this job for 3 years. HE was let go because the owner hired illegal workers for $500 a month per barn. Pays them cash under the table. The same fellow now has eight barns on different farms and all are took care of by illegals. Same $500 per barn rate. His illegals are on food stamps and kids on free lunches too. IL plates on their cars.
2) I have a cousin that has been in the building trades for 30 years. Wages in the roofing business are rock bottom because the majority of residential work is done by illegals willing to work for $10-12 an hour cash. Finish and framing carpenters are feeling the pinch too. Several jobs sites in Dubuque were busted last summer for hiring illegals. The hired legal workers lasted about a month and they were laid off an a new batch of illegals rehired. Contractor out of Texas with fake SS numbers for the workers. How do I know they where fake??? I had several try to rent a house off me. The SS numbers they gave me for running credit checks came back for people living in other states like OH and PA.
I want the illegal stuff stopped and legal immigration expanded. The illegals can easily be exploited.
