Assuming your words regarding 6.6 and 6.4 are voltage, not Amps, I would suspect your volt meter of optimism. 6.3 is all they should read after sitting for 15 minutes after being on a charger. The batteries may not be charged completely. If you have access to an automatic charger that can be used over night, I would suggest doing that. Check your volt meter against a known voltage (car battery not running) 12.5 to 12.6 volts. Hygrometer readings that vary between cells are an indicator of sulfation. The charger/maintainer/desulfering devices do work to extend the usability of batteries. They can be charged in series if a 12v device is what is available. Jim
