I' m not fer or agin, I like to see people think outside the box and an electric tractor is outside the box. A couple of years ago I saw a Ford 8N that a guy had converted to solar electric. He claimed it could be charged in a day on a cloudy day and run for several hours. As to the OP, I wonder what the fuel cost is per HP put to the ground.
Trains have a diesel/electric powerplant. I have no idea how that comes out in cost but it must work out Ok since it's been done for quite some time.
The obstacles for electric tractors may be over come but there are so many greenies that think electricity is produced for free. I question if a fair comparison of cost of production per HP between petroleum and electric is available.
