Well there is a only one good way and that is the right way. Take a Skill saw and cut the T-111 using the 1 1/2 side flat aganist the siding (set the saw at exactly the depth of the siding) then using a sawzall cut the 1 1/2 off at the top of the lean to. Be sure and get the nails out of the T-111 first up high enough to tuck at least 6 inches of flashing up underneath the T-111 and let it hang down at least a foot on the lean to. You can cut more than this off the T-111 to make it easier to get the flashing in just get a flat bar and pull the T-111 out as much as possible as far up as possible. Remember the further up and the further out you go with the flashing the less likely it is going to leak. I know this sounds like a lot of work but do it right and you'll never have to do it again.
