In the 37 years I've lived here there have been 3 cross the property. Thank goodness little damage. On one occasion I was forewarned and we were in the tornado cellar (out in the yard, not under the house), about a 9x10 concrete oval with a stack at the N and S end. Tornado came across the front lawn past the house and shelter. Sounded like a train coming by in the N vent and then the sound moved on by to the S vent and disappeared.
5 small tornados Cat 0 I guess in that storm that hit our hill that afternoon. It came at us from the NE (not the SW...... the NE and backed up to the SW).....the storm went E down the Red River, stopped, intensified, and backed up. It tore up some neighbors somewhat; partial roof lost on one house, old barn demolished on adjacent property, both hit by the one that came across my front lawn. I lost part of a big Pecan tree in the front yard.
That bunch that tore up E. Dallas and Garland, Tx. over a year ago came on up this way and there were 3 that passed us on both sides that evening. One broadsided a pair of trailer houses up the road and killed a baby besides tearing up some cross country power line towers and numerous other dwellings. We had very minor damage and were very lucky considering the event that evening.
