Is baffling me what the end game is for some of these scammers. On lots of ads I read, I think they are simply after contact info; name, email, phone number, address... And if they happen to get some money out of it, all the better. Others I simply cannot figure out.
I replied to a Craigslist ad last night about a used truck that was said to have a new Detroit diesel engine, and that they had the papers. They replied this afternoon saying the truck is behind their shed but too much snow to get out right now, plus they wanted to wait for warmer temps to mess with getting it started. The temps? Well...yes...it's currently 8pm and -2°F. Had a high today of 7°. Here's the problem - I went to re-check the ad and it was "removed by the author". Maybe he removed it because of the snow and trying to get it started?
