If you want to trouble shoot it rather than throwing parts at it you need an analog voltmeter. Connect it to the resistor side of the coil and check the voltage while cranking. If it reads much less than 6 volts while cranking go to ignition switch side of resistor and read again. If it drops much below 12 volts keep working back toward battery till you find where you are loosing the higher voltage.
