Yes, peas have to be hard and dry as stones before combining. I don't have any personal experience growing them as I don't like to get my header down on the ground and pick up dirt, rocks and whatever, but some years there is good money growing them. Wet harvests can be a problem as they will mould and rot on the ground as you wait for them to dry. I'm the guy growing some of the wheat in the world but my small farm won't feed many. I've grown it since I started farming over 40 years ago and its still my favourite crop to grow. Profitable? I think I"m making a little more than expenses most years so thats ok.
