Gamble, I change oil and filter every 60-75 hours, as soon as oil turns dark. My engines don't use any oil, but as soon as it turns dark, oil level may drop a fraction on stick. That's my clue to check hours on filter and change it.
I'm thinking some small engines on mowers don't have filters. My VW bug didn't have a filter. So Changing oil often and using a cheap filter can't hurt engine as long as it has a relief valve.
The box these filters are in look like new. Are filters like riding mowers, MTD makes them and puts someone's name on them? So who makes the filters and puts other names on their filters? geo
