the engine at idle is cooled down and not at operating temp. the diesel is not completely burnt and makes a slobbering mess . it would be more of a problem on worn engines and injection systems not up to snuff. plus dont idle them under 1000-900 rpm. as with any diesel slow idling is no good for longer periods. plus that slobber will diute the engine oil and cause more wear. i got that 354 in my combine never slobbers.
