About 10 years ago, my Dodge Dakota needed a new front brake rotor. It was my goal to buy one that was American-made. Just on a whim (and probably because I was both hard-headed and a PITA to the parts-store salesmen) I went to probably a dozen different local auto stores looking for my brake rotor without success. At the time, they were all being made in Mexico. I finally found a rotor that I would buy at a mom-and-pop parts store that didn't have the mom. In other words, this store only had one employee, the guy owner. I told him my goal and he looked in his book, went down the aisle, and I watched him get his step-stool out and pull a rotor off the top shelf. After he brought it down, he blew off an incredible amount of dust and showed me the box. It was a NOS brake rotor that was made in Canada. That was good enough for me and I purchased it. The thing must have been on the shelf for a dozen years. About six months later, I needed another front rotor for the other side. I gave up and bought the cheapest replacement I could find.
