Back when cars where kept simple. The know age of listing at noises and driving down the road for trouble shooting problems. Real craftsmanship inside and out side. One time in my life I had a really cool car I had a PACKARD that had a straight eight engine in it. I had called it the tank. It was a car handed down to me from a friend a big four door town car. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery.
