In a perfect world the center-to-center distance between the tires is some even multiple of the row spacing but for compact tractors with limited wheel spacing adjustment this often isn't possible. I'd probably do something like 36" rows which would put the outer edge of the tires 6 inches away from the adjacent rows which is about all the tighter you'd probably want to be. This would give about the same tire-to-row clearance as running 18.4" tires in 30" rows with a large tractor. Any closer and compaction would be a concern as would hitting the plants when cultivating.
