An interesting story was one I read about Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Jr. He was the first general officer to go ashore at Normandy. All he carried was a .45 pistol with one magazine. Said that's all he'd need. He always carried a walking stick, and during the thick of the battle he could be seen walking up and down the beach pointing with his walking stick and shouting orders.
During a lull in the fighting, he walked into a mess tent, plopped down in a chair, took off his helmet, and wiped his brow. A cook walked in and said, "You look like you could use a cup of coffee".
Roosevelt replied, "That I could".
The cook brought coffee and Roosevelt asked, "What neck of the woods are you from?"
The cook replied, "Pittsburgh".
Roosevelt said, "A hell of a place. No good looking women, and if there were you couldn't see them for the smoke".
Just as the cook was about to jump to the defense of his hometown and its female population, he glanced over and saw the star on Roosevelt's helmet. He told his buddies later, "I thought he was some scruffy old Sergeant".
Six days later, Roosevelt dropped dead of a heart attack.

Sheet metal is probably the hardest thing to
