Never hurts to start them young. Needed about 50 small bales of brome for the neighbor's show lambs, so the he came over and his two youngsters just had to help. Made a quick run through a waterway. They were pretty energetic for the first couple of bales then tuckered out pretty quickly after.
I ended up the brome season with about 400 small squares and around 75 large rounds. Still have 10 acres of a field planted to grass I need to bale into rounds for the horses as well. Three of the big guys can go through a round bale in just over a week, in the winter.
