This is me with my dad in the summer of '43, I think, which would have made me two and him 33. He was a welder, working at a trailer manufacturing plant. His age, plus two kids, plus working in a defense industry, plus having a brother who volunteered to go in his place, kept him from being drafted. At the left of the photo can be seen the wheel of the bicycle he rode to work, being as gasoline and tires were rationed. After the war he moved to the old family lands in the country and started dairying. To my knowledge no photos exist of either of his tractors, an 8N and an NAA.
