It's not just tractors/equipment using the same number It used to be real fun when a new customer called talking about his "7810" tractor and expects you to answer his question being an independent mechanic working on many colors, or he's with a bunch of guys talking about this 7810 tractor . Well sir is it a Ford 7810 or a John Deere 7810 you own?.
The theory says you could also end up with a JD and Ford 7810 working the same field. It used to be they never really shared tractor model numbers between brands when I was younger living in the U.K. I wonder how many tractor numbers cross over to other manufacturers to ?.
