Just got mine a week or so ago.

Needed a official birth certificate to get my finger prints.
Once the back ground check was done it was off to the DMV.

Take the written test; actually its on a computer now; like I do every 4 years.
Passed that so I think it is smooth sailing now when she tells me I need 2 forms of ID.
I hand her my birth certificate and TWIC card. A TWIC is a federal picture ID for those that do not know.
She tells me this will not do. They want proof of residency not proof of who you are.
I tell her I got my truck registration. It has my name and address.
She says we got that right here in the computer; so that will not work.
She was looking for a electric bill; credit card bill; Loan bill.
Something recent that has your name and address on it.
Luckily I had just check the mail on my way to DMV and had 2 bills with me in my truck.
She took a land loan bill I had just got and a paper where they had just sent me a new credit card.
This proved I was still getting mail at my address so most likely lived there.

Supposable it is a new federal standard to make sure you reside in the state where you are getting your CDL.

Now here is a added kicker. Our license always expired on our birthday 4 years later.
She tells me this new license is good for 6 years.
When I get the new license it shows it is good for 4 years and 11 months so I questioned it.
She figured out it is good for 6 years OR the day your federal haz mat background expires.
So since the background check is only good for 5 years and I had got it a month earlier it knocked it down to 4 years and 11 months.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
